Bloomed: Wisteria
A genus of deciduous climbers indigenous to Eastern United States, China, Korea and Japan, wisteria is a member of the pea family and is recognised for its clusters of hanging fragrant lilac and pale blue flowers. According to floriography, wisteria is a physical symbol of "welcome", supporting the contention why it's popularly grown around doorways and entrances.
Portrayed slightly differently to the other flowers in the Bloomed series, the wisteria hangs like an icicle from the top of the piece, rather than positioned upright like other flowers. As the scene progresses, the buds are pollinated by visiting butterflies and bees, with a penultimate arrival of a dainty hummingbird.
