Baby Angel
Following directly from Dominic's earlier Ice Angel artwork, Baby Angel acts as a small memento mori by offering a visual digital recording of the interaction of the viewer's body with the large scale piece.
Updating the tradition of commissioning a portrait, Baby Angel depicts the owner's interaction with the large scale Ice Angel artwork which created unique wings for each participant. Baby Angel is made from a beautifully smooth solid material with a tactile lustre, and is devoid of any detail beyond the pure white light that glows through the surface creating the animated depiction of the recording.
Instead of being an untouchable objet d'art it becomes a personal portraiture at a scale made to be viewed close to the body. It is a study of how we preserve experience in an increasingly temporary, and intangible world particularly in respect to the impact art can have on the individual.
